The United Patriotic Movement (UPM) is the political home of a rising generation, the Gen Z generation. This movement was not built to conform to the old systems, nor to seek approval from political dynasties or recycled leadership. It exists because you, and many like you, are ready to stand for something different, something bold, digital, fearless, and truly transformational.
We are not here to play politics as usual. We are here to reshape the future of this country, and we are doing it with those who believe in real, lasting change. If you believe in people-led leadership and that young people have the power to change Kenya, then this is your call to action. Align yourself with UPM, a party driven by vision, energy, and courage. This is your moment to take part in something bigger than yourself.
Whether in the streets, in schools, in marketplaces, or online, we are spreading this message, and you are part of that message. The direction is clear, build a party for the future, by the future.
We invite you to stand with us, work with us, and grow with us. Because together, we are not just imagining a new Kenya, but we are building it. This is the way forward. Let’s move together.
WAKENYA NA KENYA
Message From Party Leader
As a party, we are much aware that the modern, urban industrial business sector cannot be depended on formal employment. Much of the growing work force and limited capital will require that most jobs be created in agriculture and the informal sector. We need to change our model so that we can save millions of Kenyans who would be unemployed in the years to come as per the current situation. We have also known that the limited capital available will be best be invested in creating jobs in agriculture and in the informal sector for the many, and prosperity for all.
UPM commits itself to promote more investment in youth skills acquisition, sports and talent development to compliment what agriculture and informal sector will add on modern urban industrial sector.
The people hold the power to decide their own destiny;

Political change in post-independent Kenya gained momentum in 1990 with the Forum for the Restoration of Democracy (FORD) advocating for multi-party democracy. The movement forced the KANU government to repeal section 2(a) of the constitution, allowing for multi-party politics. However, internal leadership struggles led to splits within FORD, with Kenneth Matiba and Martin Shikuku forming FORD-Asili, and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga forming FORD-Kenya. The rise of the Democratic Party under Mwai Kibaki fragmented the opposition, allowing President Moi to retain power. Key reformists like Masinde Muliro, Jaramogi Odinga, and Michael Wamalwa passed away, leaving behind a legacy, though future leadership failed to sustain the momentum.
In 2024, a movement led by Generation Z protested the Finance Bill 2024-2025, demanding reforms in President William Ruto’s government. These nationwide protests, leaderless and tribe-less, succeeded in forcing the withdrawal of the bill, dissolving the cabinet, and uniting Kenyans beyond tribal and political lines. However, the entry of the opposition into a “broad-based government” compromised its role in holding the administration accountable. Lobby groups and NGOs have also been ineffective in checking government excesses.
The United Patriotic Movement was formed to provide accountable and transparent leadership, committed to the Kenyan people. Our goal is to lead Kenya toward better governance through democratic means as outlined in the 2010 constitution.
